On February 11, Ulyanovsk State University celebrates its 35th anniversary. It was on this day in 1988 that the USSR Council of Ministers signed a decree on the opening of the first university in the history of the region in Ulyanovsk - a branch of Lomonosov Moscow State University. On December 17, 1995, the higher educational institution gained independence.
