Ulyanovsk State University has joined an international CPD programme for university teachers of English from the People’s Republic of China by offering a postgraduate course in linguistics. The joint Sino-Russian academic excellence programme is called "Language Services in a Disruptive World" and was initiated by the educational institution Literra Education Centre (Russia), which is among top 20 language service companies in Eastern Europe. It united Russian universities and Chinese educational institutions such as the Language Service Competence Assessment & Training Centre (PRC), aiming to improve the English ability, translation skills, and language service practice level of English teachers in Chinese colleges and universities. This project also provides opportunities for these teachers to study the theoretical foundations of a language or training method in a specialised postgraduate programme at Russian universities. The Russian postgraduate programme is three years long and ends with a PhD-equivalent degree awarded to successful students.
