The researchers of the Advanced Engineering School of USU are the authors of the import–substituting technology for the Jurkat and Raji genomic DNA production

A team of researchers from the "Pharmaceutical Engineering" Advanced Engineering School of USU  has developed its own technology for obtaining DNA preparations from human cell lines Jurkat and Raji.

"These drugs are used as control samples during PCR tests and other molecular diagnostic procedures, detecting reactions to many human genetic markers - for example, when determining the sex (Jurkat is a male cell line and contains Y chromosome genes) and Rh factor (Jurkat contains a normal RHD gene sequence) of the fetus during pregnancy, as well as for scientific research, where human DNA is needed," comments Denis Viktorov, Director of the Department of Advanced Research and Development at PHARM Engineering.

Today, the genomic DNA of the Jurkat line is produced only by Thermo Scientific (USA) and is not currently supplied to customers from the Russian Federation. Domestic manufacturers of reagent kits for molecular genetic diagnostics are in urgent need of these DNA preparations. The scientific staff of the UlSU Advanced Engineering School plans to develop technologies for the isolation of genomic DNA from other human and animal cell lines, and expand the pool of industrial partners.
