On February 11, Ulyanovsk State University (UlGU) celebrates its 37th anniversary. On this day in 1988, the USSR Council of Ministers issued a decree to establish a new university—the first university in Ulyanovsk and the first-ever branch of Moscow State University in the country's history.

Today, UlGU has grown into a powerful scientific, educational, and innovation center, ranking among the best universities in Russia. Time and again, the university reaffirms its status: in recent years, UlGU has won the federal "Priority 2030" program, secured victory in the competition to establish an Advanced Engineering School, and consistently ranks among the top 100 universities in Russia according to academic rankings.
