According to the results of the  SCImago Institutions Rankings ,international scientometric ranking of universities and research organizations,  Ulyanovsk State University  secured the 49th position in the "Innovation" category among 167 Russian universities.

SCImago is the most comprehensive international ranking of universities' and research institutions' scientific resources. Notably, universities cannot apply for inclusion in SCImago; they are automatically ranked if they meet the necessary criteria. USU is the only university in Ulyanovsk included in this registry.
