More than 30 years ago, the Russian tricolor regained the status of the national flag. On August 22, 1991, the leadership of the RSFSR decided to consider the historical flag of Russia, which was then described as "a cloth with white, azure and scarlet stripes", as a national flag. Soon after, a new holiday appeared in our country — the Day of the National Flag of Russia. It was installed in 1994.
Meanwhile, the history of the Russian tricolor itself has more than 310 years. The creator of the tricolor banner is considered to be Peter I, who in 1705 issued a decree obliging all merchant ships to sail only with a white-blue-red flag.
On the Day of the Flag of the Russian Federation traditionally in all regions take place solemn processions, patriotic events.
Happy Holiday!
