International Surgery Conference Held at Ulyanovsk State University

An international scientific and practical conference featuring a youth-focused academic school took place at Ulyanovsk State University, marking the 30th anniversary of the Department of General and Operative Surgery with Topographic Anatomy and Dentistry Course. The forum, titled “Current Issues in Surgery”, was dedicated to the memory of the department’s first head, Professor Vladislav Ostrovsky.

Experts from over 30 institutions and organizations across Russia, Kyrgyzstan, China, and India submitted papers and presentations. In-person speakers included professors and associate professors from the country’s leading medical universities, alongside medical students and residents specializing in surgery.

Key contributions were made by Evgeny Korymasov, the Chief Freelance Surgeon and Endoscopist of the Russian Ministry of Health in the Volga Federal District; Andrey Anisimov, Head of the Department of Emergency Medical Care and Simulation Medicine at Kazan Federal University and corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences; and Vladimir Struchkov, Head of the Methodological Accreditation and Simulation Center at the Vishnevsky National Medical Research Center of Surgery.

Live-streamed sessions allowed participants to observe complex surgical procedures and hands-on masterclasses. During a dedicated session for young surgeons, students and residents exchanged experiences and clinical insights.

Lively discussions and debates throughout the forum contributed to the development of solutions addressing various challenges in modern surgery.
